2013 MTV EMA - Redfoo behind the scenes at the EMA Promo shoot

 

 The incredible line-up for the “2013 MTV EMA” keeps getting hotter, with some of this year’s biggest musical acts just added to the bill! The legendary Snoop Dogg, chart-topper Robin Thicke, world famous DJ/producer Afrojack and breakthrough band Imagine Dragons will all be performing at the “2013 MTV EMA”. These global superstars join previously announced performers Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and The Killers, along with the evening’s MC Redfoo of LMFAO, backstage host Ariana Grande and presenter Ron Burgundy of “Anchorman 2” (Will Ferrell).

Additionally, MTV has announced that recording artist and model Iggy Azalea, singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding, singer/actress Carice van Houten (Game of Thrones) and actor Colton Haynes (Arrow, Teen Wolf) are all confirmed to present at the “2013 MTV EMA”, with more performers and presenters still to be announced.

Two-time EMA winner and 2007 host Snoop Dogg makes a triumphant return to the show, performing a special, funked-out rendition of “Gin and Juice” joined by the 7 Days of Funk to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his seminal, record-breaking album DoggystyleSnoop will be performing alongside Afrojack at a special MTV EMA event held at the popular Melkweg club in Amsterdam’s city centre, and their sizzling performance will be beamed into the “2013 MTV EMA” broadcast for fans tuning in around the world.  Afrojack (up for two EMAs this year) will be returning to his native Holland for his “MTV EMA” debut, performing his new hit single “The Spark”, which is also the theme music for the “2013 MTV EMA”.

Also making their first ever appearance at the MTV EMA are Robin Thicke and Imagine Dragons. To add to his already hugely exciting 2013, Thicke is nominated for four EMAs this year, including Best Song for “Blurred Lines” feat. T.I. and Pharrell, Best Video for “Blurred Lines”, Best World Stage and Best US Act. Imagine Dragons – one of MTV’s 2013 PUSH acts (MTV’s initiative that recognizes the most promising artists on the brink of becoming global superstars) – received two EMA nods, for Best New and Best PUSH.

“I am grateful and excited to be nominated and performing at this year’s EMAs. I know it will be an amazing night!” said Thicke.

Afrojack said: “It’s really cool to be nominated for two EMAs and perform at the EMAs! The EMAs are one of my favourite award shows and the fact they’re happening in Amsterdam makes it even more special. Whatever happens, I feel fortunate to be nominated and I can’t even explain how dope it is to have my new track, “The Spark” as the official theme song to the EMAs!”

Imagine Dragons said: “We feel really lucky to be able to attend the EMAs in one of our all-time favorite cities in the world.  To be nominated and performing on top of that is a serious honour.”

Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the “2013 MTV EMA” nominations with five nods each, while Thicke, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus are each up for four awards. Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Green Day, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Daft Punk, Rudimental, Icona Pop and One Direction are each nominated for three awards. Artists with two EMA nods include Afrojack and Imagine Dragons, as well as Rihanna, Katy Perry, Eminem, Jay Z, Bastille, The Killers, Paramore, Rita Ora, Drake, Avicii, Calvin Harris and Iggy Azalea.  African artists in the running for Best African Act include LCNVL, Mafikizolo, P-Square, Wizkid and Fuse ODG.

Bruce Gillmer and Richard Godfrey are Executive Producers for the “2013 MTV EMA”.

Fans can vote for EMA categories such as Best NewBest Live and more by visitingwww.mtv.co.za or www.mtvbase.com online. Voting for EMA categories is open now until 00:59 CAT on Saturday 9 November 2013.

The “2013 MTV EMA” will air across MTV’s global network of more than 60 channels reaching nearly 700 million households around the world as well as through syndication. In addition, its convergent programming and content will reach the entire interactive community, via MTV’s200+ digital media properties around the world.

The 2013 MTV EMA will broadcast live on MTV (DStv Channel 130) on Sunday 10 November at 22:00 CATfrom Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome.  The show premieres on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) on Tuesday 12 November at 19:30 CAT.
