Lagos, 11 January 2014: Koko master D’Banj leads the MTV Base Official Naija Top 10 Powered by Star Music for the second week running as “Finally” continues its remarkable chart success.

Elsewhere on the chart, Olamide’s “Duro Soko” is currently sitting at number 2, followed by Davido’s “Skelewu” in third place. Former number 1 Dr Sid is hanging in there at number 4 thanks to “Talented”.

It’s a big week for artists associated with drama series Shuga this week: Kcee’s “Pull Over” is at number 5; Tiwa Savage’s “Emininado” is showing promise at number 8; and catchy Shuga title track “Sweet Like Shuga” makes its chart debut at number 10. The track, featuring Flavour, Kcee, Chidinma, Sound Sultan and Professor and produced by Del’b was released to support the rollout of Shuga, the hard-hitting TV series about contemporary youth from MTV Base and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation. The video for Sweet As Shuga was directed by Clarence Peters.

“Rotate” by Wande Coal continues to make progress up the chart, currently sitting at number 6.

Shuga stars Dorcas Shola Fapson, Chris Attoh and Emmanuel Ikubese join VJ Ehiz on the Top 10 couch this week to talk about the week’s movers and shakers.

The MTV Base Official Naija Top 10 is revealed on MTV Base on NTA every Friday night at 23.30 WAT. The chart rundown can be seen on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) every Tuesday @22.00 WAT, on AIT on Tuesdays at 21.30 WAT, and on STV on Thursdays @ 18.00 WAT. Next week’s chart will be unveiled on Friday 17 January on NTA @ 23.30 WAT.

Every week, the Official Naija Top 10 powered by Star Music is put together by an elite judging panel of Nigerian broadcasters, music specialists and tastemakers, working with MTV Base to pick the winners and losers in the week’s chart. On the panel are Onos Ovueraye (Bella Naija.com), DJ Humility (Rhythm FM), DJ Jimmy Jatt, DJ Xclusive (Cool FM), Big Time (Rhythm FM), DJ Caise (The Beat FM), Toolz (The Beat FM) and Osagie Alonge (Nigerian Entertainment Today).
