Through the year 2021, I learnt that “Nothing you want or wish to become in life is IMPOSSIBLE. You have the power to take away the negative IM and embrace all that comes with the POSSIBLE (Possibility)”. Back then in school I always loved everything that revolved around the media, and this saw me writing radio shows, conducting radio programs and drama, managing bloggers platforms/creating content and also becoming a University Usher. Tripple shoot right? Maybe this was just a young lad who was determined to see himself through school with tips from menial jobs while assisting his parents financially. Years after becoming a fresh graduate, there came the voice “what’s next”. As a young teenager, I wasn’t too sure which path to take and this was a pivotal stage where I had to make that decision which could either make or mar my life.

I was caught in a tight web of either acting, script writing, managing productions, or becoming a renowned radio host but I wanted a more advanced and challenging career that included learning, growth, and ethical nurturing. I discussed my plans and ideas with my uncle and that was the first time I heard about “PR”. For me, it was another advanced stage of decision making again.  Having done some research, the doubts came: “What if I am not just good”, “What if I dont have the experience they need”, “What if I am who they are looking for?” It’s either one tries (strives) for something or dies for nothing so, I sent my CV to many firms.

March 10th 2021, the most exciting moment of my life was being welcomed to BHM Group as an intern for my mandatory service year (NYSC). I counted myself among the best, because for me, it was just the good beginning of the first phase of life in a renowned multinational firm. Few weeks into the job and the jabs came from all angles. Learning on the job wasn’t an easy one. For me, I guessed it was another way to exhibit my innermost strength, hardwork and commitment to the job. Working on the MTN account has been a challenging but impacting, self development, and goal driven experience for me. For me, 2021 was a phase of a new dawn in my life, personal growth and career. Below are some of the high moments of the year for me.

Communication Skills Improvement: Joining BHM and getting to work on an MTN account has sharpened my communication skills, helping me communicate in a reliable, effective and professional way.

Media Monitoring & Reporting: being one of the crucial aspects of PR, I am glad I could take up this challenge to be better as I advance to becoming the very best in this field.

Personal Growth & Development: Thankful for 2021, and particularly proud of the fact that I enrolled for the Jobberman soft skill training course, passed its test and became certified in soft skills. Cheers to much more to be achieved in 2022.

Writing Skills: I have always asked myself “When would I write better”, “When would my writing align with the organisation’s writing standard”? Despite all the thoughts that came, I am glad improvement came as the year was wrapping up. Fully aware there is still room for better improvement, I look forward to what 2022 holds in that aspect.

Attending to Clients Briefs & Planning Campaigns: I bet as an intern, the most terrifying moments comes with the mail that reads “Hi Dave, please find attached a client brief and help come up with a campaign plan…..”phewww..! I knew that there wouldn’t be growth if I didn’t get to challenge myself through it, and yess, it was fully rewarding for me.

Thankful for the year 2021, the highs and down moments, the growth, development, achievements and above all for health and life. Was it all possible?

It was POSSIBLE”..!

Cheers to achieving more in 2022.
