The new season of MTV Shuga Naija premieres in 2018 and it’s one you certainly do not want to miss. Shooting is currently under way and the cast are getting to grips with some epic storylines.

If you want to know what to expect, keep reading…

  1. Expect to see new and amazing casts

The directors went through a very rigorous process before finally selecting the new cast.  As well as familiar faces, expect to be blown-away by new and upcoming young stars like Uzoamaka Aniumoh and Philip Frances, Segun Dada, Moses Akerele, Chinaza Ruby Akabueze, Sharon Jato, Helena Nelson, Chimezie Imo, Tomiwa Tegbe and Nelson Ora.

Thousands of people sent in their videos and attended the auditions; the chosen few are working tirelessly to deliver an unforgettable series.

  1. Expect it to be contextual and authentic

It wouldn’t be MTV Shuga if there wasn’t a few jaw-dropping moments, and this season does not disappoint. The scriptwriters of this season have a lot in store for its viewers. There’s something for everybody: from teenage drama, to young adults trying to be adults, to married couples, everyone has a story to tell.

  1. Expect the unexpected

You may recognise familiar faces but don’t expect them to be same characters.

Leila and Weki patched things up at the end of season 4, but is love still on the horizon for this budding romance in the new season?

Princess gave birth to her child but remained conflicted on what to do next ; will she keep her baby or look for other options?

Time has certainly passed and will we see the same Tobi who came to light in seasons 3 and 4? Is there a dark side to Tobi or will he be that sweet guy we remember in seasons gone by?

Last year we also brought three top international stars to bring the heat to MTV Shuga’s title track, this year’s line-up will be revealed soon.

  1. Expect truly Nigerian stories

MTV Shuga Naija has three of Nigeria’s best movie directors working on the production: renowned film and casting director, Tope Oshin-Ogun; short films director, Tolulope Ajayi; and film director and screenwriter, Ishaya Bako.

This season is going to show the diversity of Nigerians, the spirit of the people, and the genuine stories of an average Nigerian.

  1. Expect it to be on your TV screens soon…

The sixth season of MTV Shuga will premiere on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322), BET (DStv channel 129), as well as 179 terrestrial stations and also on other third party broadcasters around the world in 2018.
