The ongoing #LagosAt50 celebration has delivered a number of exciting activities to residents and tourists in the past few weeks, with even many more on the way. Saturday, April 15th, saw the waterways across Lagos come alive as different communities from Ikorodu, Epe, Badagary and Lagos Island displayed rich culture and tradition in form of colourful boat parades.
The delightful Boat Regatta which added much beauty and colour to the festive atmosphere was well attended by royal fathers, top dignitaries, government officials, guests, tourists, as well as members of host communities.
Some of the attendees included the Olu of Epe, Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Mr. Tunji Bello – who represented the Governor, Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Mr. Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti; Acting Commissioner for Tourism, Art and Culture, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola; former Finance Commissioner, Mr. Wale Edun and Sole Administrator, Iru-Victoria Island LCDA, Princess Aderemi Adebowale.
In addition to the general entertainment and awesome displays, the best boat crews were selected from all four locations, with winners awarded with exciting gifts.
