Hackim Abdul, Director of Citi’s Public Sector Group for Africa, is set to speak at the Africa Breakfast Convos (ABC) 2026, in New York on Friday. Abdul brings his experience advising African governments and financial institutions to discussions on the capital and investment needed to support the continent’s next phase of growth. His panel discussion aligns with key regional economic indicators, such as Ghana recording a GH¢46.1 billion trade surplus in Q1 2026 and Kenya registering 5.3% GDP growth in the same period.
Abdul works with governments, central banks and development finance institutions across Africa, advising on international debt markets, bank financing and financial transactions. His career spans public finance and investment, with a focus on helping public-sector institutions access funding for development.
He joined Citi in 2013 and has worked across corporate finance, equities research, and structured trade and commodity finance in South Africa. Abdul moved to Citi’s Public Sector Group in 2019, after earlier experience working on financing transactions across Western Europe and at Chapel Hill Denham, an investment banking firm with operations in Nigeria and Ghana.
Abdul has also participated in international discussions on financing Africa’s development, including panels organised by the United States Corporate Council on Africa, the Business Council for International Understanding and Harvard Business School’s Africa Business Conference.
At ABC 2026, Abdul will join Yasamin Alttahir, Director of Global Marketing, Communications and External Affairs at The King’s Trust International and Otunba (Dr.) Bimbola Ashiru, Chairman, Blackcod Group and Group Director, Odu’a Investment Company Limited, on a growth-focused panel. Stephanie Busari, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SBB Media and a former CNN correspondent, will moderate this discussion on investment, growth opportunities and the partnerships needed to support Africa’s economic expansion.
