BlackHouse Media (BHM) has secured a place on the Financial Times’ prestigious list of Africa’s Fastest Growing Companies for the second consecutive year, a remarkable achievement for an independent communications consultancy.

The FT ranking of Africa’s Fastest Growing Companies 2024 is compiled in collaboration with global data and business intelligence platform, Statista. The list ranks independent African companies by their organic, internally stimulated compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in revenue for the period under review. In 2023, BHM debuted on the list and is featured this year at number 89, showcasing the company’s stability and consistency as one of Africa’s growth champions.

“The incredible support from our clients and partners across the world has been instrumental in our growth,” said Ayeni Adekunle, BHM’s Founder and CEO. “This recognition is further validation of our strategic vision, and our ambition to build the first truly global communications services company with African roots.”

“This is a testament to the hard work of our people and the incredible support we’ve enjoyed from partners and clients,” added executive director Femi Falodun.

Originally founded in Lagos in 2006 by Ayeni, a former journalist, BHM has over the years solidified its position as a leading communications and public relations consultancy in Africa. Today, the company boasts a staff strength of about 100 professionals operating in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and across Africa, as well as in England, Scotland and the United States. Its impressive client roster includes Heineken, MTN, MultiChoice and The Macallan.

“The FT ranking highlights the growing strength and innovation of African businesses,” stated David Pilling, FT’s Africa editor. According to the FT, BHM has distinguished itself, displaying fast growth, made even more impressive having achieved it during the years of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Beyond its core business of marketing communications, public relations and reputation management, BHM actively invests in the African PR landscape. The company advocates for the World PR Day, an initiative that has gained recognition and acceptance in over 60 countries and is celebrated every year on July 16th. BHM’s commitment to the continent also extends to research and thought leadership projects, including a report on the cost-of-living crisis impacting the African diaspora in the UK, as well as the Africa PR and Communications Industry report.

“Our mission is to serve clients across the African continent and globally,” said Ayeni. “Every recognition we receive along the way strengthens our resolve to succeed. We have an unwavering belief in the continent and its people, and the value we can bring to the world.”
