Ride sharing platform GoMyWay along with Safetee and Sharply have recently been recognised by Interswitch, Africa’s leading digital payments company.
The recognition came at a workshop organised by Interswitch in conjunction with Co-Creation Hub (CcHub) recently at the CcHub centre Yaba, Lagos.
The InterswitchAPIJAm as it was tagged was a 2days long event, organized for developers and start-ups that have been having issues with payments/collection and disbursement of funds on their platforms. The event saw Interswitch open up 5 APIs to the developers present and has been said to be the first step to opening up these and many more APIs to the general public sometime in the near future.
The APIs opened include eWallet Services, Payment Gateway, Quickteller Services, Loyalty Reward and Paycode and the Start-ups that participated in the session include Safetee, Edves, Mamalette, SimbiPay, Truppr, Sharply, GoMyWay, Siscomedia, mPaying, LifeBank, EZ Technologies & Mybetaplace.com.
At the end of the 2days hands-on workshop, 3 start-ups distinguished themselves with their ideas and integration of the Interswitch APIs to their products. Ride sharing platform GoMyWay came 1st while Safetee a platform that lets women quickly and easily contact emergency contacts in dangerous situations and helps to record evidence for prosecution where necessary and Sharply a platform that connects professionals to where their services are required, came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Adagunodo Ayoola, Software Developer, GoMyWay Africa had this to say,
“We think Interswitch opening up its APIs is a great decision it will no doubt make life easier for Nigerian startups who want to accept payments for their services. This is because Interswitch seems to have the capacity to ensure security, given that they are a large company with a big reputation. Startups and companies can depend on them without having second thoughts.”

The GoMyWay team integrated 2 APIs – Paycode and the Payment Gateway – to create a seamless payment process on the GoMyWay platform.
“The API Jam gave us a great opportunity to learn about new Interswitch APIs as well as the possibilities of integrating multiple APIs on our platform to process and disburse payments easily.” Adagunodo added.
Apart from the cash prizes awarded to the top 3 start-ups, Babafemi Ogungbamila, Chief Information Officer, Interswitch revealed,
“In addition to this, all the teams that participated have free access to these APIs no matter what happens.”
