Nigeria’s foremost beer brand Star, hosted select fans to an exclusive event as part of Manchester City’s 2019 Global Tour in Lagos.

 

The event came as part of Star’s one of a kind partnership with Manchester City as the club’s “Official beer partner” in Nigeria.

 

The agreement was one of Star’s partnerships with seven leading European football clubs as the brand continues to express its commitment to support its consumers’ growing passion for football.

 

Speaking on the event and the partnership, Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Emmanuel Oriakhi said,

 

Even though we are Nigeria’s foremost beer brand, we continue to refresh the Star brand to keep it new. That is what Manchester City is also bringing to football. They bring a freshness and new level of excitement to the established football order and have carved a reputation for themselves in a few short years.

Star’s partnership with Manchester City gives the brand access to the club’s imagery and archives of great content that is being pushed into the Nigerian market. Furthermore, consumers of Star Lager, got the opportunity to interact with the club’s six trophies from the 2018/19 football season.

 

Lucky fans also had met with Manchester City Legend, Micah Richards as he accompanied the trophies at Star’s exclusive event on Sunday, September 1, 2019.

 

Since Star Lager entered into the landmark partnerships with Manchester City, a bottle of Star has since symbolized more than just another lager. It has become a communion between a fan and the pride, history and colours of their favourite club side.

Over the years, the Star brand has consistently supported football initiatives and platforms such as its highly impactful campaign to rally Nigerian football fans in support of the Super Eagles in 2014 and 2018.

 

The Star Super Fans Show also showcased and rewarded football fans for their passion and knowledge of the game. In 2016, Star announced a landmark partnership with the local league, NPFL, this consolidated its support for Nigerian football and highlighted the brand’s  commitment to developing the indigenous league.

 

Since the first STAR lager beer bottle rolled out of the bottling lines in the Lagos brewery in 1949, the brand has been a market leader and was listed by the African Business magazine in its 100 Most Admired African Brands in 2015. Star has put its expansive platform to good use in promoting music and youth lifestyle through projects like STAR Music Trek, STAR Quest and STAR Mega Jam.
