The third episode of the Star Football SuperFans TV game show kicks off where Episode 2 left off with thirty minutes of fiery, attacking football from both teams. The gameshow, which airs every Thursday on Africa Magic, featured Golden United squaring up against Awesome Blues for the N1 million star prize and the bragging rights.

Host Mozez Praiz finds himself officiating a keenly contested affair with both teams attempting 20-point questions. Awesome Blues were the first to get an answer correct with a 10-pointer that moved them into the opposing half. Subsequently, both teams kept missing their questions and after 2 more rounds, the game was starting to resemble a half pitch press as Golden United struggled to get out of their half while Awesome Blues could not seem to find a way through to goal.

Akinditure Williams of Awesome Blues then steps up to try his hand at another 20-pointer and this time it was spot on – 1-0 to Awesome Blues! The half ended this way with Golden United struggling to create anything. Barely had the second half kicked off than the scores were tied at 1-1 with Golden United in the ascendancy.

Extra time kicked off and Uche of Awesome Blues came up to show his passion with a Nigerian version of the popular Spanish football chant “Ole, Ole, Ole”. He performed this vigorously with a Chelsea flavour as the appreciative audience clapped and sang along. Then came Henry of Golden United with a popular Nigerian fan chant adapted into a song praising Manchester United and mocking Chelsea, which again got the audience to its feet with excitement. Both teams then clashed finally in the 60 second debate.

Then came the moment of truth as Mozez Praiz reveals how the audience voted. The result of the ‘Show Your Passion’ segment was a goal for Golden United and Henry jumped the gun as he scrambled across the studio in celebration as the scoreboard changed to “2-1”. “We’re not done yet!” insisted Mozez Praiz as the result of the debate could still change the result. No matter, because a few seconds later came the result of the debate – the audience also voted for Golden United! Game over!

The jubilant group of five die-hard Manchester United fans thus got to take home the N1 million prize and this week’s bragging rights as SuperFans of all Superfans and Awesome Blues went home with the N100, 000 consolation prize.
